About the Role
As our Director of Data Platforms, you will be the driving force behind our data strategy, leveraging cutting-edge data engineering tools and techniques to inform business decisions and propel growth. You'll serve as the central hub for data-related activities across multiple departments, collaborating closely with our product, engineering, and marketing teams to foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing data management processes, designing self-serve reporting and analytics solutions, and guiding our Analytics team towards delivering actionable insights that drive business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Advanced Analytics: Spearhead our analytics organization to provide actionable insights to cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Merchandising, Finance, Marketing, and Technology, to promote growth and business development (20% of the role).
- Drive Data-Driven Culture: Foster a culture of continuous testing and experimentation, leading efforts to run AB and multivariate experiments, and drive growth through innovative strategies and meticulous execution (20% of the role).
- Mentor and Grow the Analytics Team: Hire, manage, and mentor the analytics team, providing guidance on tools, approaches, and best practices to deliver clear, actionable recommendations (20% of the role).
- Develop and Optimize Data Management Processes: Collaborate with application and data engineers to design and implement self-serve reporting and analytics solutions using tools like Tableau, Google Analytics, and custom reporting (10% of the role).
- Partner with Marketing and Product Management: Work closely with marketing to drive direct mail, email, paid search, and social media targeting, and with product management to identify and prioritize future site features and measure project outcomes (20% of the role).
- Enhance Data Infrastructure: Build a better data infrastructure and develop the architecture to collect and link raw customer data across the site and devices (5% of the role).
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- A bachelor's degree in a field related to the job, with a graduate degree (MBA) preferred.
- 10+ years of cross-functional experience in ecommerce/digital analytics within a large corporate environment, spanning Product Management, Finance, and Pricing/Merchandising areas.
- Proficiency in web analytics packages (Omniture, Coremetrics, etc.) and emerging technologies in the marketplace that impact eCommerce and Marketing data collection and analytics.
- Prior experience in developing and managing direct reports, internal clients, and vendors.
While not required, having additional years of experience or leadership experience will be a plus.
