About the Role
We are seeking a Part-Time Online Visiting Professor to teach in our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, specifically for the course NR-706: Healthcare Informatics & Information Systems. As a visiting professor, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and experience with students who aspire to succeed in the field of healthcare informatics. This 100% online teaching position offers flexibility and convenience, allowing you to make a meaningful impact from the comfort of your own space.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspire students to complete their programs by providing regular, meaningful feedback about their academic performance, development, and participation, while encouraging them to engage fully in their education.
- Engage students in meaningful asynchronous threaded discussions at least 4 days per week, moderating participation, evaluating responses and rationales, and responding to questions or comments.
- Evaluate academic progress and comprehension of course content through assignments and discussions.
- Exhibit Chamberlain Care by displaying behaviors of care, respect, and professionalism, creating a culture that fosters collaboration, cooperation, and respect among all.
- Be readily available to meet the needs of a diverse student body, identifying and embracing opportunities to enhance student engagement.
- Bring your professional experience to life through professional development, introducing industry perspective into courses, and sharing information about nursing trends and opportunities with students.
- Promote student success by demonstrating flexibility in style, schedule, and exhibiting your passion for teaching, devoting time and energy to improve scholarly excellence and subject matter expertise.
- Foster a positive learning environment by maintaining accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic policies.
- Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, email, and online discussions, for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Model effective communications that engage students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
Essential Qualifications
- MSN and DNP or PhD in Nursing degree is required.
- Must have an active nursing license (Compact/Multi-State RN License preferred).
- 2+ years of graduate-level teaching experience required.
- Recent healthcare informatics experience (past 5 years) outside of the academic environment required.
- Nursing informatics or other related certifications highly preferred.
- Online teaching experience required.
- Illinois RN License will be required to teach all courses.
- Must have required subject matter expertise and outstanding written communication skills, familiar with APA.
- Must have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
- Solid written skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively in an online environment are a must.

- Experience with online learning management systems and educational technology.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and online pedagogy.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
The expected compensation rate for this position is between $850/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate's education and experience.
