About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and experienced individuals to join our team of chat-based mental health coaches. As a coach at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in supporting young people through our innovative chat platform. This is a 1099 contract position that offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others. Coaches support students during school hours (8am-6pm EST / 5am-3pm PST) based on chat demand, with hours ranging from 1-3 hours a week or sometimes none, depending on student needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-demand and weekly coaching to young people through our chat platform, using empathy and awareness to support students from diverse and historically marginalized communities.
- Follow established protocols, especially during crisis-based chats, with support from licensed Coach Supervisors.
- Continually learn and adapt to new online platforms and tools with ongoing training and support.
- Use your coaching skills to support students in achieving their goals and overcoming challenges.
- Collaborate with other coaches and supervisors to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in mental health, youth work, or coaching.
- A reliable laptop or computer (no tablets or cell phones) and internet with a minimum 50 mbps download speed.
- A quiet, distraction-free workspace.
- Must reside & be in the U.S. for the duration of your contract with arenaflex.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
- Strong empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by young people, particularly those from diverse and historically marginalized communities.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Certification in coaching or a related field.
- Experience working with young people in a coaching or mentoring capacity.
- Familiarity with online platforms and tools, particularly those used in coaching and mental health support.
- Knowledge of best practices in coaching and mental health support, particularly in relation to diverse and historically marginalized communities.
