SUMMARY Serves as the designated safety representative in a region or service line, reporting to an Employee Safety and Risk Manager. The Employee Safety and Risk Specialist or ESR-S promotes the company’s Culture of Safety through knowledge of safety and risk standard processes, analysis and reporting, safety trainings and assigned operations safety plans. The ESR-S assists operations with OSHA regulatory compliance. Facilitates and monitors the injured employee safe and timely return to work at the business unit level. Collaborates with the ESR Director and Manager to implement department initiatives, and manages ESR-S assignments as appropriate.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:  - Supports the ESR Manager ensuring operations compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations, and other environmental health, safety, and loss prevention standards. - Works with ESR Manger for knowledge of corporate monthly Safety reports and processes for operations risk reduction and prevention planning activities. - ESR-S functions as designated by the ESR Manager may include safety, environment and loss prevention trainings, specific project tasks, location audits or assessments, analysis of safety metrics and formal quarterly metric updates. - Supports operations’ review and implementation of required ESR programs including the Safety Action for Employees Program (S.A.F.E. Program), Emergency Preparedness Program and Emergency Response Plan, Workplace Violence Prevention Program, Bloodborne Pathogen Program and Exposure Control Plan, Safe Driving Programs, and Hazard Communication Program. - With an understanding of Workers’ Compensation employee injury management, the ESR-S facilitates injured employee return to work (RTW) by working with ESR Claim Consultants, Managed care and Third Party Claim Administrator (TPA). Monitors with operations employee RTW in a modified duty capacity with progression to full duty. - Supports Workers’ Compensation claim performance by assisting the ESR Manager in Risk Reduction and Active Claim Management activities with Operations. - Administers the OSHA midyear and end of year recordkeeping process as directed by the ERS Manager. - Instructs operations to obtain Supervisory Accident Investigations and Auto Incident/Accident Inquiry documents.  Review for actions to prevent injuries with thorough and accurate completion.  - Identifies and communicates operations safety and risk issues and reports to ESR Manager for strategizing corrective action.  - Monitors, and participates as required in Safety Committees to ensure they are active and functioning effectively. - Distribute internal Safety Resources, Toolkits, Training Shorts, and online supports, distributing to Field Operations as directed.  - Performs other related duties and activities as assigned and required.    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None required. Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:    Education and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree required - Two to four years in health, safety, quality improvement or industry related experience preferred  - Experience in health services or heath care setting preferred Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: - Nationally recognized occupational health, safety, environmental or risk certifications preferred Other Skills and Abilities: - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision when assigned job tasks are specified - Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Other Requirements: - Overnight travel is required and assigned by ESR Manager Physical Requirements: Sedentary work.  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.   AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT STATEMENT External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential job functions either unaided or with assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis via the interactive process.
