At arenflex, every team member has the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the way goods move across the globe.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Technology (OT) Systems Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role blends remote data‑entry expertise with hands‑on field support, overseeing the full project lifecycle of advanced control systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating complex hardware and software environments, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and delivering solutions that meet strict performance, safety, and reliability standards.
While the position offers flexibility in scheduling, it is not a fully remote role. The successful engineer will be required to report to a designated arenflex office and travel extensively (80‑90% of the time) to project sites, vendor locations, and partner facilities across the United States.
Key Responsibilities
System Design, Development, and Integration
- Create, plan, test, and integrate software and hardware configurations for OT control systems.
- Develop detailed technical specifications, ensuring alignment with business requirements and industry standards.
- Lead system integration efforts, coordinating hardware, firmware, and application layers to achieve seamless operation.
- Validate designs through rigorous testing, including functional, performance, and safety verification.
Project Lifecycle Management
- Own end‑to‑end project timelines, from scope definition and resource allocation to construction, commissioning, and hand‑over.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, risk registers, and change‑control logs.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and on‑site personnel to ensure milestones are met on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct regular project reviews, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
Field Support and Site Visits
- Provide on‑site technical assistance during installation, testing, and start‑up phases.
- Perform field verification activities to confirm that deployed solutions meet client specifications and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and civil trades to resolve integration challenges.
- Gather real‑world performance data and feedback to inform future design improvements.
Vendor and Partner Management
- Engage with vendors to source components, negotiate technical requirements, and ensure quality compliance.
- Lead joint technical workshops and configuration surveys to capture detailed system requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance, addressing any deviations from agreed‑upon specifications.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Stay current with evolving OT security standards, industry best practices, and regulatory guidelines.
- Implement benchmarking and data‑driven analysis to optimize system efficiency and reliability.
- Champion safety and quality initiatives across all project phases.
