Key Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to healthcare providers, patients, and insurance carriers to gather and verify information
- Respond to inbound calls as needed, providing expert support and resolving queries
- Utilize computer skills for efficient data entry, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- Gather and review patient billing and medical information, analyzing complex problems and providing expert solutions
- Operate in accordance with Federal Health Care Program guidelines, maintaining compliance and integrity
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to provide insights and expertise, driving process improvements
- Work with insurance carriers to ensure coverage of medication on behalf of patients, resolving issues and negotiating when necessary
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- At least 1 year of previous Medical Benefits experience (prior authorization experience a plus)
- Medical call center experience (desirable but not required)
- Ability to multi-task and use dual monitors efficiently
- Excellent work attitude, with a willingness to help others and work collaboratively as a team
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in prior authorizations
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and healthcare regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders
