The Summer 2025 Legal Internship Program is designed to provide a comprehensive and immersive experience in publishing law. Over ten weeks, you will work closely with the PRH Legal team to:
- Conduct legal research on various topics, including defamation, copyright, and trademark law
- Review books for potential legal concerns and provide feedback
- Draft contracts and other legal documents
- Assist in tackling the challenges associated with being a global publisher
- Participate in weekly virtual programming to learn about different departments within the company
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
As a Legal Intern at Penguin Random House, you will be expected to:
- Work four days a week (Monday through Thursday) for ten weeks, starting from June 9, 2025, to August 18, 2025
- Put in 28 hours a week, with flexibility to manage your schedule remotely
- Engage with the PRH Legal team and contribute to the team's efforts
- Develop your skills in legal research, writing, and analysis
- Participate in virtual programming and networking opportunities
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be considered for this prestigious internship, you should:
- Be a first-year law student with a strong academic record
- Have a passion for publishing law and a keen interest in the book industry
- Possess excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous experience in a law firm, publishing company, or related industry
- Knowledge of publishing law, including copyright, defamation, and trademark law
- Familiarity with the book publishing industry and its key players
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
