Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated K-8 After School Tutor to work with students in a remote setting. The tutor will collaborate with classroom teachers to provide accommodations and modifications to the curriculum, create a supportive learning environment, and ensure students have the resources they need to succeed. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an urban or low-income setting, a passion for education, and a commitment to our mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide accommodations and modifications to the curriculum
• Create a conducive learning environment that fosters academic growth and social-emotional learning
• Design and facilitate differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities
• Serve as a role-model for students and invest in their well-being, health, and safety
• Facilitate problem-solving with a curious mind and critical thinking skills
• Recognize the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance
• Prepare students for college and instill in them our core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

• Possess or be eligible for New Jersey certification
• Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (if graduated after September 2015) or 2.75 (before September 2015)
• Have preferably 2+ years of experience working in an urban or low-income setting
• Be committed to living out our mission and values
• Demonstrate academic competence in subject area(s)
• Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teaching practice

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates who:

• Have experience working with students with various behavioral and medical needs
• Are familiar with differentiated instruction and personalized learning
• Have a strong understanding of social-emotional learning and its impact on academic performance
