Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, instructing students in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports, and evaluating student progress. You will work closely with other physical education teachers to plan a balanced physical education program, provide individualized and small group instruction, and maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations
- Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers to plan a balanced physical education program
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil
- Evaluate each pupil's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid PA certification specific to content area: Health and Physical Education PK-12
- Demonstrated knowledge in the area of assignment
- Positive attitude toward the teaching profession and importance of education
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work under periods of stress and maintain a high level of professionalism
