Job Summary
As a Data Scientist - Marketing Analytics, you will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, analysis, research, product, engineering, and finance, to drive business growth and improve the Etsy experience. Your expertise in data analysis, modeling, and visualization will help inform business decisions and drive marketing strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and refine core marketing measurement frameworks and models, including attribution, lift, CLV, return on investment, experimentation approach, and segmentation.
- Drive forward strategies for performance marketing partners by transforming raw data into actionable and effective analyses, characterized by service, method clarity, and clear documentation.
- Play a key role in determining how to best engage and grow Etsy clients by identifying and targeting opportunities for growth through analysis of behavioral and transactional data.
- Identify key metrics that drive the performance of marketing channels and advertising products, make these available to partners through dashboards and reports, and drive these metrics through statistical analyses of experiments.
- Continuously assess and refine your technical toolkit, sharing knowledge with the team and staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and execute experiments, analyze results, and provide recommendations for marketing strategies.
- Develop and maintain complex data visualizations and reports to communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Work with engineers to implement data-driven solutions and optimize marketing processes.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, or economics.
- 3+ years of experience as a data scientist, analyst, or in a quantitative role, with a proven track record of extracting insights from large datasets with minimal engineering support.
- Proficiency in SQL and either R or Python, with experience working with data visualization tools, such as Looker, Scene, or Tableau.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas verbally, visually, and in writing.
- Experience with performance marketing, channel attribution, and customer lifetime value models is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem or additional programming languages, such as Scala, PHP, or Ruby.
- Familiarity with data visualization software, such as D3.js or Power BI.
- Knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
