As the Vice President of Philanthropy, you will lead and inspire a high-performing team responsible for mid-level, major, planned, corporate, and foundation giving. This role will cultivate an exceptional fundraising culture focused on relationship development, grounded in our faith driven mission, and aimed at driving sustainable revenue growth and donor retention. This individual is critical to advancing Bethany's mission of delivering exceptional social services that strengthen families and help children thrive. You will shape strategy, build capacity, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities. The Vice President of Philanthropy will also be responsible for developing a strong pipeline of future revenue through equipping fundraising teams and driving a culture of accountability to create and execute relationship cultivation plans. This includes collaboration with mass segment fundraising across print and digital mediums as well as playing an intentional role in supporting Bethany branch operations across the US to ensure a strong partnership in donor cultivation. This is a high contact position in which the individual must be able to integrate big picture, critical thinking and processes into their day-to-day role while securing and maintaining a manageable donor portfolio of their own. This position is expected to function effectively with little supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead a high-performing team of professional fundraisers, driven by excellence to develop a strong pipeline of private revenue across multiple channels, to ensure Bethany's mission is fulfilled; • Ensure agency private funding priorities are clearly defined and effectively communicated through various market channels to connect donors with the mission; • Provide strategic leadership to the collaborative partnership between Donor Engagement and branch operations, equipping branch staff for effective donor cultivation; • Actively develop and execute relationship cultivation plans for a select portfolio of donors; • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive revenue pipeline strategy and ensure successful collaboration and execution across private funding channels; • Ensure full adoption and effective utilization of industry-leading fundraising technology, including the CRM system (Raiser's Edge NXT), to support donor relationships and accountability; • Demonstrate fundraising as a ministry to donors, aiming to change hearts and transform lives as they steward resources for vulnerable children and families; • Oversee and analyze portfolio activity to ensure key deliverables and deadlines are met, partnering with the Fundraising Operations team to produce timely leadership reporting; • Lead the team in expanding fundraising capabilities and staying current with philanthropic trends and donor relations best practices through networking and training; • Leverage the Office of the CEO and local relationships with Bethany staff, Board members, and stakeholders to cultivate relationships with influential donors and potential partners; • Collaborate to create and maintain a robust inventory of funding opportunities and proposals aligned with mission-critical priorities; • Attend required meetings and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders; • Travel to leadership meetings and donor appointments, as necessary; • Represent Bethany and its core values in all forms of communication; • Complete other duties as assigned; QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent work experience required from an accredited college or combination of education, experience, and training. Master's degree preferred; • At least ten (10) years of work experience in fundraising for a non-profit or similar organization, Christian based organization preferred; • Proven experience managing fundraising or sales teams and multi-location staff; • A successful track record raising significant gifts from donors using a variety of funding strategies; • Prior experience with a CRM system such as Raisers Edge preferred; • Experience in child/family welfare agency, a plus; • Demonstrated ability with establishing relationships both in person and on the phone; • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; • Must possess strong multi-tasking and project management skills; • Must be analytical and agile in an evolving work environment; • Must have a high level of personal and professional integrity, including the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding donor profiles and personal information; • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Outlook 365; • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany; • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage; • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries; Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
