Veterinary Technician - Specialty Departments Signing bonus up to $2,500!!! Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic specialty department team. Position Overview: Technicians perform a variety of animal-health duties to ensure exceptional patient care. Technicians should be proficient in intermediate nursing duties including but not limited to patient assessment and monitoring, phlebotomy, IVC placement, medication/fluid administration, medical calculations, anesthesia monitoring, etc. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of specialty medicine and the ability remain calm during stressful situations. The technician working in this position will be trained to work as a clinic tech within different departments including but not limited to internal medicine, neurology, and cardiology. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Deliver exceptional, compassionate nursing care to patients utilizing a variety of technical skills including, diagnostic sample collection, intravenous catheter placement, etc. • Assist the doctors with consultation and recheck appointments • Work under the guidance of the physicians to relay information to clients • Schedule new patient consultations, recheck examinations, procedures, and technician outpatient appointments for the specialty departments • Coordinate daily scheduled appointments, procedures, emergency transfers cases, as well as inpatient consultations for canine and feline patients • Keep current in veterinary medicine trends through CE attendance Skills and Qualifications: • Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in small animal clinical setting as a technician • State certification to practice as a veterinary technician preferred • Superior technical knowledge and skills • Proficient in medical math calculations (drugs, conversions, etc.) • Excellent communication skills with clients and team members • Proficient time management, ability to problem solve, learn, and handle multiple tasks • Enthusiastic team player with a patient, and positive professional attitude • Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day • Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner • Must be able to anticipate patient needs and be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine Benefits and Perks (for Full Time): • Employer paid medical insurance premiums, AND paid deductible for employees! • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance options • 401K with company match • Complimentary Life Insurance $5,000 • Personal Pet Discounts • PTO and Holiday pay • Company Sponsored Employee Assistance Program (EAP) • Veterinary Social Worker on-site • Ample paid CE opportunities on-site, as well as CE stipend for Certified Technicians • Uniform allowance OSVS is located in East Greenwich, RI. Specialized equipment includes telemetry, endoscopy, CT scanner, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and MRI.
