Research Associate/Fellow (Fixed Term, Part Time)

Area: Sociology & Social Policy Location: University Park Applications are invited for a Research Associate/Fellow to support the principal investigator, Dr Brenda Poku, in researching migrant children and young people with chronic illnesses, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the University of Nottingham. The research will examine the experiences of migrant young people with chronic illnesses from the perspectives of migrant young people with sickle cell disorders in the UK. The project comprises a qualitative study. The post holder will contribute to conducting and disseminating the study. The role holder will be able to use their experience, initiative, and creativity to extend the research portfolio. Strong methodological and writing skills are essential. Successful applicants will have experience in healthcare-related qualitative research, conducting qualitative research and writing qualitative findings for publication. We are looking to employ someone... interested in sociological theories/concepts that can be used to study and interpret illness and health experiences. Experience in researching migrant health and/or chronic illness is desirable. The applicant should be able to work as part of a team and independently where necessary and can build relationships and collaborate with others, both internally and externally. The post is offered on a part-time (22.5 hours per week), fixed-term contract from 1 November 2024 to 30 April 2026. The post holder will be required to work on Campus at least once a month.
