Tome & Blade is seeking a skilled unity programmer who can help adapt our foundational systems into a new demo. The ideal candidate would love the idea of programming the systems for a galactic humanity survival game with heavy moral conundrums. They will possess a deep understanding of unity and game development best practices to ensure a fun and optimized experience.
Responsibilities
• Write clear, maintainable code for a new startup
• Able to take an existing codebase, learn it, and enhance it
• Draft documentation outlining all code usage with examples
• Collaborate with designers, artists, and QA to ensure the demo is responsive, engaging, and as bug-free as possible
• Write and implement code for all foundational aspects of the game including: event systems, time management system, UI/UX, tech tree, and more
• Maintain strict version control using Git
• Participate in weekly check-ins with the team during EST/EDT hours to deliver progress updates to the team
• Willing and eager to play the game and give feedback to ensure a well-rounded / exciting experience
Qualifications
• Deep-level understanding of Unity and C#
• 3+ years of working in Unity with published games or projects under your belt.
• A strong technical portfolio demonstrating proficiency in developing clean code
• Ability to self-organize and lead development efforts for an entire project
• Ability to effectively express ideas quickly and iterate based on feedback
• Highly self-directed and self-motivated with strong verbal and written English communication skills
• Experience working in small, passionate teams
• Know how to properly optimize a game for PCs with vast arrays of system specs.
• A love of science fiction!
The Compensation
This is a remote contract position available in the US, Canada, and Europe with an estimated budget of $6,000 - 9,000 USD total to be paid via PayPal and broken up amongst agreed-upon milestones.
Our intention is to convert all of our roles to full-time project contracts + profit sharing once funding is secured.
