Senior Manager, Global Payroll About the Role Groq is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Manager, Global Payroll to lead and scale our global payroll operations. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this is a key role within our growing Finance team, responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across multiple countries. The ideal candidate brings deep payroll expertise, international experience, and a collaborative mindset suited for a dynamic startup environment. What You’ll Do - Oversee and manage global payroll operations, including coordination with third-party vendors across EMEA and APAC regions - Manage bi-weekly and monthly payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate execution - Partner closely with People Operations, Accounting, and Legal teams on cross-functional initiatives and compliance - Oversee and continuously improve expense reimbursement processes - Support equity-based payroll administration, including taxable events related to exercises and vesting - Maintain and optimize payroll systems and integrations, with a strong preference for ADP familiarity - Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international payroll regulations - Lead preparation and execution of payroll, benefit plan, and workers compensation audits and assist in other financial audits as needed - Drive improvements in payroll workflows, documentation, and internal controls - Manage and mentor payroll team members as the team grows What You Bring - 8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including international payroll exposure (EMEA/APAC preferred) - Experience with equity-based payroll, including taxation of exercises and vesting - Strong working knowledge of ADP systems (Workforce Now or equivalent) - Private company payroll experience required, with strong preference for experience in both private and public companies - Experience in a high-growth startup environment - Demonstrated collaboration with People Operations and Finance teams - Experience supporting audits (payroll and financial) and understanding of GAAP-related payroll considerations - Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with acute attention to detail - Strong operational mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment - Prior people management or team leadership experience is strongly preferred Attributes of a Groqster: - Humility - Egos are checked at the door - Collaborative & Team Savvy - We make up the smartest person in the room, together - Growth & Giver Mindset - Learn it all versus know it all, we share knowledge generously - Curious & Innovative - Take a creative approach to projects, problems, and design - Passion, Grit, & Boldness - no limit thinking, fueling informed risk taking If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! Groq is committed to providing competitive compensation through our Total Cash philosophy, which incorporates potential bonus value directly into base pay. The total cash salary range for this position, which is inclusive of the potential bonus value, is $194,700–$263,400, with individual placement determined by your geographic location, experience, skills, and alignment with internal compensation standards.  This range is specific to candidates located in the United States. Compensation for international candidates will vary based on local market dynamics. Beyond cash compensation, Groq also offers equity participation and a robust suite of employee benefits.
