As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing the services that power the core rental platform. You’ll collaborate closely with a talented team to build scalable, efficient backend systems that improve the experience for both property listers and renters. ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain back-end services that drive Apartment List’s core product.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve features for property listers.
Write high-quality, performant code primarily using Ruby on Rails and Java/Kotlin.
Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Take ownership of projects, advocate for best practices, and seek simple, scalable solutions.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and engineering trends to continuously improve our stack.
5+ years of professional software development experience in organizations with strong engineering processes.
Strong software development skills and a solid foundation in computer science fundamentals.
Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and/or Java/Kotlin (experience with both is a plus).
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud (GCP).
A well-rounded engineer who can take ownership of projects from conception to deployment.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
