Role Overview
The Respiratory Therapist, Home-Based Pulmonary Rehabilitation (HBPR RT), is a core member of the Morlen Health care team responsible for delivering high-quality, virtual pulmonary rehabilitation services to patients with chronic respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, and other lung diseases.
This role combines clinical expertise with virtual care delivery, patient education, and care coordination. The HBPR RT conducts assessments, leads rehabilitation sessions, monitors patient progress remotely, and collaborates closely with providers and care teams to improve patient outcomes and functional capacity.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fully distributed environment, proficient with telehealth technologies, and able to independently manage patient care while maintaining strong communication and engagement with patients and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Delivery
- Conduct comprehensive virtual intake assessments, including patient interviews and standardized outcome measures
- Perform and interpret respiratory-related assessments and functional evaluations
- Develop individualized pulmonary rehabilitation care plans in collaboration with providers and care teams
- Lead virtual pulmonary rehabilitation sessions, including both exercise and education components
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as appropriate
- Educate patients and caregivers on disease management, breathing techniques, and proper use of respiratory equipment
- Support patients in setting up and using remote monitoring devices and digital health tools
- Communicate clinical findings and progress updates to providers and care team members
- Identify and escalate patient safety concerns or clinical changes in a timely manner
Documentation & Care Coordination
- Accurately document all patient interactions, assessments, and treatments in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Review patient charts to ensure appropriate care delivery and continuity
- Track and report patient progress, including changes in functional and clinical outcomes
- Coordinate with referring providers and internal team members to support patient care plans
- Respond to patient inquiries and triage issues appropriately
Operations & Team Contribution
- Deliver care in a timely, organized, and efficient manner within a virtual care model
- Participate as an active member of a distributed care team, contributing to continuous improvement of clinical workflows and patient experience
- Maintain professional communication across virtual platforms (phone, video, messaging)
- Support administrative and operational tasks as needed to ensure program success

Basic Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate’s or higher)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Current, active Respiratory Therapist license in at least one U.S. state (multi-state licensure preferred)
- Strong foundational knowledge of pulmonary rehabilitation and chronic respiratory disease management
Additional Qualifications
- Experience delivering care via telehealth or remote patient monitoring platforms
- Proficiency with EMRs and digital health tools
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a panel of patients independently
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with patients in a virtual setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in pulmonary rehabilitation or chronic disease management
- Experience leading group-based exercise or education sessions (virtual or in-person)
- Familiarity with remote monitoring technologies and virtual care workflows
