Job Overview
The Public Sector Technology Solutions Consultant is responsible for consultative selling of IT and technology solutions to state, county, municipal, and public safety agencies. This role serves as a trusted advisor to CIOs, IT Directors, Security leadership, and command staff—guiding agencies through discovery, solution design, procurement pathways, and implementation planning. The consultant owns IT-funded opportunities end-to-end, including software, networking, devices, digital evidence and camera ecosystems, and enterprise technology projects. When opportunities originate through Fleet or Vehicle Sales, this role takes ownership once the deal becomes IT-governed or IT-funded.
Duties
• Own the full lifecycle of IT/technology opportunities in assigned territory (pipeline generation through close and expansion).
• Conduct discovery sessions with public sector stakeholders to identify business challenges, workflows, security requirements, and desired outcomes.
• Design and present solution recommendations including high-level architecture guidance (connectivity, devices, cameras, evidence/data ecosystems, SaaS).
• Coordinate and lead technology briefings, product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts/pilots, and stakeholder alignment meetings.
• Manage partner relationships and coordinate with OEMs to build proposals, secure deal registrations, and deliver best-value solutions.
• Navigate public sector procurement pathways including cooperative contracts, RFP/RFQ responses, grants, budget cycles, and purchasing approvals.
• Support cybersecurity and compliance conversations (CJIS considerations, security questionnaires, data handling, hosting requirements) in partnership with vendors.
• Develop account plans for strategic agencies, maintain executive relationships, and drive multi-year roadmap discussions.
• Ensure complete and accurate documentation in Salesforce (stage, close date, next steps, stakeholders, product mix, forecasts).
• Collaborate with Fleet & Vehicle Solutions Managers to ensure seamless handoffs, coordinated account engagement, and an exceptional customer experience.
• Coordinate internal resources (solution architects, project managers, procurement) to ensure delivery planning is aligned with customer expectations.
Qualifications
• 3–7+ years of consultative sales experience in GovTech, public sector IT, or enterprise technology solutions (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to sell complex solutions with multiple stakeholders and long sales cycles.
• Experience engaging IT leadership (CIO/IT Director/Security) and navigating public sector procurement.
• Strong presentation skills (briefings, demos, executive communications).
• Working knowledge of networking/connectivity, devices, camera ecosystems, and/or SaaS sales motions.
• Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned region.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience selling into public safety agencies (Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS).
• Familiarity with CJIS impacts on technology purchasing and security requirements.
