- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics, serving as a role model for students and colleagues alike.
- Stay current with developments in the field of film studies, incorporating relevant knowledge and perspectives into your teaching practices.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities as a part-time/temporary faculty member, including teaching scheduled classes, maintaining accurate records, and participating in departmental activities.
- Be prepared to teach classes in a variety of formats, including day, evening, weekend, online, and off-campus sessions.
Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate
To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
- Valid California Community College instructor credential, appropriate to the subject, per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990).
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in film, drama/theater arts, or mass communication.
- Bachelor's degree in film, drama/theater arts, or mass communication AND a Master's degree in media studies, English, or communication.
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above, supported by an Application for Equivalency.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, we highly value:
- Recent community college or lower division teaching experience, demonstrating your ability to effectively engage with students and adapt to the community college environment.
- Expertise and professional experience in the field of film studies, enabling you to bring real-world insights and applications to the classroom.
- A sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage the classroom environment and provide instruction to students from diverse backgrounds.
