Job Opportunity: Part-Time Accountant (CPA Preferred but Not Required)
We’re looking for a detail-oriented part-time Accountant to join our team and help manage core accounting functions across multiple states and locations. The ideal candidate is CPA certified (preferred but not required), experienced in multi-state compliance, and comfortable working independently to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards.
Responsibilities:
Perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain accurate bookkeeping records
Prepare and file Form 571-L for multiple states and ensure compliance with state tax laws
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Assist with payroll administration and coordinate with payroll providers as needed
Prepare and issue 1099s
Support workers’ compensation audits and ensure proper documentation
File quarterly sales tax returns and maintain compliance with state requirements
Track and manage annual business license renewals and dues
Assist with end-of-year tax audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
Uphold GAAP compliance and recommend process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications:
CPA certification preferred (or equivalent experience in accounting and taxation)
Proven experience with multi-state accounting, sales tax, and compliance
Strong understanding of GAAP, payroll, and reconciliation best practices
Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Jobboss, ADP, etc) and Excel
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
Ability to work part-time and remotely with minimal supervision
Hours: Flexible, part-time schedule (approx. 10–20 hours per week, depending on workload).
