About the position
The IP Docketing Paralegal will manage the daily operations of the firm's computerized docketing system, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patent-related records. This role is crucial for maintaining compliance with U.S. and foreign patent filing procedures and involves assisting attorneys and staff with docket reports and case management.
Responsibilities
• Handle the daily operation of the firm's computerized docketing system, including the docketing of incoming mail from the USPTO, international patent offices, clients, and associates.
• Docket prosecution and interference due dates for all U.S. patent cases, including USPTO and court filing deadlines.
• Abandon cases and enter data for cases transferred to and from the firm.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data entry, including new U.S. and foreign patent, interference, and litigation case data.
• Clear due dates on the docketing system daily as instructed by attorneys or assistants.
• Assist attorneys and staff with generating docket reports as needed.
Requirements
• 2+ years of U.S. and foreign patent docketing experience required, with proficiency in computerized docketing systems.
• High school diploma required; undergraduate degree preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. patent filing, prosecution, and registration procedures; experience with CPI and IP docketing systems required.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Word Perfect.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Typing Speed: 50-75 WPM.
