THIS ROLE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR C2C, VISA SPONSORSHIP, or THIRD PARTIES Job Title: Data Scientist (Contract-to-Hire, Remote – EST/CST Preferred) Department: Enterprise Data Analytics – Center of Excellence (CoE) Reports To: Director, Data Science Position Summary The Data Scientist will join the Enterprise Data Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE), contributing to the development of innovative, data-driven products that deliver measurable business impact. This role is ideal for a professional with deep mathematical and statistical expertise, a strong sense of curiosity, and a passion for transforming complex data into actionable insights. You will collaborate closely with data analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to identify patterns, build predictive models, and communicate findings that accelerate strategic decision-making. The position is remote (EST/CST time zones preferred) and requires quarterly travel for team collaboration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Tell compelling data stories that inspire business action. • Mine and extract valuable data from multiple sources. • Use machine learning tools to select features, create, and optimize classifiers. • Preprocess structured and unstructured data to ensure quality and consistency. • Enhance data collection procedures to improve analytic system design. • Clean, validate, and ensure the integrity of all data used for analysis. • Analyze large datasets to identify meaningful patterns and solutions. • Develop predictive systems and machine learning algorithms. • Present analytical results in clear, actionable formats. • Partner with Business and IT teams to design data-driven strategies for complex challenges. • Build insightful visualizations that highlight opportunities and operational improvements. • Facilitate conversations with business stakeholders to rapidly frame problems and iterate solutions. • Promote a culture of data-driven, continuous improvement across the enterprise. • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all regulatory requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, Private Insurance). • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and consistent performance to achieve business goals. Position Requirements & Competencies • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. Equivalent experience accepted. • 5+ years of professional experience in data and analytics roles. • Proficiency in statistical programming (Python, R) and query languages (SQL, Hive, Pig). • Familiarity with additional languages (Scala, Java, or C++) is a plus. • Strong applied statistics knowledge: statistical tests, distributions, regression, estimators, etc. • Solid understanding of machine learning methods (k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests). • Deep mathematical foundation in multivariable calculus and linear algebra. • Expertise in data wrangling and handling imperfect or incomplete datasets. • Experience with data visualization tools (matplotlib, ggplot, d3.js, Power BI, Tableau). • Strong communication skills for engaging both technical and business audiences. • Experience in software engineering principles and hands-on use of data science tools. • Analytical mindset with a creative approach to problem-solving. • Results-oriented with a high degree of accountability and business acumen.
