About the Role
Govplace is seeking a Lead Services Architect to join our Managed Services organization. We are looking for a highly strategic and technically proficient leader with a passion for designing scalable, profitable, and repeatable service offerings.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in defining and evolving Govplace’s Managed Services portfolio. This individual will be responsible for architecting service offerings that align to customer needs, vendor capabilities, and internal delivery models; ensuring solutions are both operationally executable and financially viable.
This role operates as the lead authority on Managed Services design, working cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Vendor partners to standardize offerings and support complex deal pursuits. (Remote work is accepted for this position.)
Requirements
Qualifications
The successful candidate can demonstrate deep expertise in Managed Services design, solution architecture, or service portfolio development, along with strong business acumen.
- 8+ years of experience in Managed Services, Solution Architecture, or Services Design
- Experience designing and implementing service offerings in a VAR, MSP, or enterprise services environment
- Strong understanding of service delivery models, SLAs, and pricing structures
- Experience supporting pre-sales activities and complex solution design
- Familiarity with enterprise technologies (e.g., ITSM platforms, cloud services, infrastructure, end-user support)
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Great to Have
- Experience working in a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) or Managed Services environment
- Exposure to federal customers and compliance frameworks
- Experience aligning services with OEM/vendor programs (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, Dell)
- Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks

- Must be able to work in an office environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift, carry or move up to 15-30 pounds occasionally.

Summary
This role supports the organization by:
- Designing and maintaining a scalable Managed Services portfolio, including service definitions, SLAs, and delivery models
- Standardizing service offerings to improve margin, efficiency, and repeatability
- Supporting pre-sales solutioning for complex and high-value opportunities
- Ensuring alignment between sales commitments and operational delivery capabilities
- Defining service architecture standards and governing non-standard solution approvals
- Collaborating with vendor partners to align services with OEM programs, incentives, and capabilities
- Driving continuous improvement in service design based on customer needs, market trends, and operational feedback
- The best candidates for this role understand how to translate technical capabilities into sellable, deliverable, and profitable services. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to engage with executive stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the Managed Services service catalog, including scope, SLAs, and delivery models
- Establish standards for service design, pricing alignment, and margin optimization
- Act as the lead architect for complex deals, ensuring solutions are scalable and executable
- Partner with Sales to develop solution strategies for key opportunities
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure alignment between design and delivery
- Identify and reduce reliance on custom, non-standard solutions
- Support vendor strategy by aligning services with partner capabilities and incentives
- Document service architectures, workflows, and design standards
- Assist in responding to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs with Managed Services solutions
- Provide thought leadership through internal documentation, presentations, and external content
- Travel for customer engagements and internal collaboration as needed
- Continuously evaluate and improve service offerings to enhance customer value and profitability
