The ideal candidate will serve as a key technical and commercial liaison, interfacing directly with customers to identify needs, deliver tailored solutions, secure new business opportunities, manage project timelines and deliveries, handle costing and profitability analyses, and promote our comprehensive value-added offerings. This position requires travel to customer sites and reports to the EVP, Sales.   What You’ll Do  As a Field Application Engineer, you will be responsible for:  Customer interfacing and Technical Support - Serve as the primary technical liaison for customers, conducting on-site visits, product demonstrations, design reviews, and application support to understand requirements and recommend optimal FDH Electronics' solutions.  - Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, facilitate design-ins, and support integration of electronic components and assemblies.  - Provide specialized expertise in cable harness assemblies, including custom design recommendations, connector selection, wire routing, shielding for EMI protection, and integration into aerospace/defense systems.   Sales and Business Development - Identify and close new business opportunities by coordinating customer requirements, developing and negotiating proposals/contracts, and integrating solutions with customer operations to drive revenue growth.  - Achieve sales targets through consultative selling, upselling/cross-selling, and demand creation using deep industry knowledge to target critical markets and new customers in assigned territories.    Promote Value-Added Programs - Actively promote and sell FDH Electronics' Value Add, Supply Chain Management, and Full Life Cycle programs to enhance customer efficiency, reliability, and long-term partnership. Highlight capabilities in custom cable harness assemblies as a core value-add offering.   Strategic Account Management - Develop and execute strategic plans for assigned accounts, incorporating in-depth knowledge of key supplier lines to market and sell the full portfolio of offerings while increasing customer lifetime value and attracting new accounts.    Schedules and On-Time Delivery (OTD) - Manage project timelines, coordinate with supply chain and operations teams to ensure on-time delivery of orders and resolve any delays through proactive communication and problem-solving.    Costing and Profit/Loss Analysis - Prepare accurate cost estimates, pricing proposals, and profitability assessments for customer projects. Monitor P&L for assigned accounts, identifying opportunities to optimize margins while maintaining competitive pricing.    Quotes, Proposals, and Market Engagement - Develop and deliver customized quotes, technical proposals, and presentations for clients. Attend industry conferences, meetings, trade shows, and events to network, generate leads, and stay informed on market trends.    Customer Satisfaction and Relationship Building - Establish and foster long-term relationships with customers to secure design wins, address ongoing business challenges, and ensure high satisfaction with supply chain management, value-added services, and overall support.    Market Intelligence, Planning, and Team Support - Contribute to planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives. Provide regular reports on customer feedback, competitive landscape, and sales performance. Train internal personnel and support team skill development to enhance overall capabilities.    Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with internal teams including sales, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance to align on customer needs and deliver integrated solutions. What You Bring - Bachelor's degree in Business, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field preferred - 5+ years in technical sales or field applications engineering within the electronics, aerospace, or defense industries. Proven background in cable harness assemblies, wire harness design/support, or related high-reliability interconnect solutions is highly preferred. - Proven track record in customer-facing roles with a focus on technical problem-solving, sales achievement, and securing design wins - Strong knowledge of electronic components, application engineering, and industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, AS9100). Familiarity with cable harness-specific tools, processes, and standards. - Deep technical expertise in electronic components and high-reliability applications, with specialized knowledge of cable harness assemblies (including design, prototyping, standards compliance, and integration) preferred - Exceptional customer focus and relationship-building ability, translating technical solutions into clear business value - Proven commercial acumen to close deals, negotiate contracts, drive revenue, and optimize profitability - Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging diverse audiences with technical and commercial content - Strategic thinking and results orientation to develop account plans, expand markets, and meet sales targets - High adaptability, cross-functional collaboration, and professional integrity to support team success and protect confidential information   Special Requirements:  - U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.  - ITAR Requirement  - 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
