About the Role: Substitute Teacher
We're on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Roselle, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a significant difference in the lives of students. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity of education
- Manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students to ensure seamless integration
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
- Take advantage of our free, online training programs to enhance your teaching skills and stay updated on best practices
Essential Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
- Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language, or STEM education
- Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Early Years, Elementary, Middle, High School)
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Flexibility and willingness to work varied schedules
- Proficiency in creating engaging lesson plans and managing classroom behavior
