Key Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst at Tesla, you will be responsible for:
- Building brief, convincing, and action-driven data visualization dashboards to generate insights and guide decision-making across the Supply Chain team
- Writing complex SQL queries for reporting and ad-hoc data requests, with a focus on maintaining high-quality, modular, and well-tested code
- Creating and maintaining ETLs (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, including identifying valuable data sources, writing custom SQL queries, validating data against source applications, and making adjustments as needed
- Collaborating with stakeholders and business leaders to gather requirements and translate complex business questions into intelligent KPIs and analysis
- Working with cross-functional teams to drive upstream process, systems, and data design improvements
- Effectively communicating project results and areas for improvement to non-technical audiences
- Maintaining internal documentation and project maps, including relevant timelines and expectations
- Independently handling multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting goals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's or graduate degree in a quantitative field, such as Engineering, Data Analysis, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar
- Strong proficiency in SQL and the ability to write complex queries with detailed QA checks
- A good understanding of relational databases and database design concepts, with experience building ETL pipelines being a plus
- Comfort with a scripting language, such as Python, and data analysis packages, such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, being desirable
- Ability to build action-driven dashboards with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, Plotly, Matplotlib, or similar
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to work collaboratively with business and engineering teams, while being able to work independently
- Meticulous, execution-focused, persistent, and able to find gaps in the system to uncover issues and drive upstream improvements
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with complex and demanding deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are desirable:
- Experience working with large datasets and data warehousing solutions
- Knowledge of data visualization best practices and design principles
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
- Certifications in data analysis, data science, or related fields
