Job Summary
We are looking for a talented and passionate educator to fill a full-time Lecturer position in Neuroscience. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching and a commitment to evidence-based pedagogy, as well as the ability to develop and teach courses in Neuroscience, including smaller intensive labs. Key Responsibilities
- Teach five courses per academic year, including introductory psychology, research methods, and specialized courses in Neuroscience
- Develop and implement innovative and effective teaching methods, including the use of technology and active learning strategies
- Mentor and advise undergraduate students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and career goals
- Contribute to departmental service, including serving on elected committees and participating in curriculum development and assessment
- Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current with advances in Neuroscience and education
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- An advanced degree (Ph.D. in psychology or a related field is preferred) in Neuroscience or a closely related field
- Experience as an instructor of record at the college level, with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning
- A strong teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching effectiveness, including student evaluations and peer reviews
- A diversity, equity, and inclusion statement, outlining their approach to fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
- Experience teaching Neuroscience courses, including labs and lectures
- A strong research background in Neuroscience, with a record of publication and presentation
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment, including the design and implementation of new courses and programs
- A commitment to community engagement and outreach, including the development of partnerships with local organizations and businesses
- Experience with online or hybrid teaching, including the use of learning management systems and other educational technologies
