Key Responsibilities
- Teach assigned classes using the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education, utilizing State and District curriculum guidelines to inform instruction.
- Plan and implement a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students, using a range of instructional methods and available resources.
- Interpret and use data from various educational sources to improve instruction and student outcomes.
- Identify students with special learning needs and develop strategies to support their learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to promote student success and well-being.
- Maintain accurate records and make reports as necessary, ensuring compliance with district and state requirements.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and academic achievement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with developments in mathematics education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, assess student learning, and improve instructional practices.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in Middle Level Math.
- Have a strong understanding of mathematics curriculum and instructional methods.
- Be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds (with assistance) and use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience teaching mathematics at the middle level.
- Knowledge of technology integration in mathematics education.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Participation in professional development opportunities related to mathematics education.
