About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Distributed Systems Engineer to join our Data Platform team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and operating our distributed systems infrastructure. Your expertise will help us drive business growth, improve our services, and enhance the overall user experience. This is a part-time, remote opportunity, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and technical program management, to drive business outcomes
- Architect and build powerful, versatile, and highly available distributed infrastructure
- Drive technical initiatives and contribute to the development of our open-source software
- Participate in the design and development of Tranquil web services, ensuring seamless integration with our existing systems
- Work closely with our engineering teams to build and operate fault-tolerant, distributed systems
- Contribute to the development of our data platform, enabling our teams to make data-driven decisions
Essential Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems or applications
- Proficiency in the design and development of Tranquil web services
- Experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems
- Strong programming skills in Java or other object-oriented programming languages
- BS in Computer Science or a related field
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native technologies and distributed data processing
- Knowledge of open-source software and contribution to open-source communities
- Familiarity with Python and other programming languages
- Experience with event-driven and serverless architectures
- Strong understanding of computer systems, networking, and software engineering principles
