As a Civil Roadway Engineer, you will work on multi-disciplinary roadway design projects for high-profile state agencies and municipalities, collaborating with civil engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
Responsibilities
- Providing technical expertise on projects from the conceptual and preliminary engineering design phase to final design
- Providing technical expertise on projects beyond final design to through construction phase services
- Coordinating with architects, bridge, environmental, geotechnical, survey, and traffic professionals, to complete multi-disciplinary project deliverables
- Assisting project managers in various aspects of roadway design, utility infrastructure design and coordination, development of construction documents, and construction support services
- Preparing detailed civil design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages
- Working with Project Managers to ensure that production of specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements
Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- 0-3 years' experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for roadway design projects
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) license, or the ability and motivation to obtain license
- Experience with developing roadway designs in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) or Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) design guidelines and standards
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation - InRoads/OpenRoads, AutoTURN
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in: 3D roadway models, horizontal alignments, profiles, corridors, cross sections, grading, sidewalk/curb ramps, ADA design, construction phasing, quantity takeoffs, and estimates preferred
