The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) is responsible for managing a multi-billion dollar budget and is seeking a Budget Analyst to support the Budget Management Branch. The role involves acting as the primary budget contact for assigned programs and performing analytical work related to the preparation and maintenance of the Department's budget. Responsibilities - Acts as primary budget contact for assigned programs, divisions, institutions and/or juvenile facilities - Performs analytical work of less complexity as it relates to the preparation and maintenance of the Department's budget - Communicates effectively (orally and in writing) - Develops and maintains knowledge and skill level related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools, and equipment - Completes assignments in a timely manner and adheres to departmental policies and procedures Skills - Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment - If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification - Official transcripts may be required upon appointment - Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter - Strong writing (including analytical writing), interpersonal, and communication skills - Ability to prepare and deliver presentation materials and information - Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and business partners - Ability to handle and adjust to multiple assignments, priorities, and critical deadlines - Ability to recognize sensitive issues and use tact and discretion when discussing and negotiating them - Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships - Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and effectively - Demonstrate good work habits, an adherence to all policies and procedures, and a commitment to exceptional performance of duties in a service-oriented manner - Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) - Willingness to create and promote an equitable and inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated and valued Company Overview - CDCR specializes in wide range of services like rehabilitation, parole supervision, and juvenile justice for enhancing public safety.
