The City of New York is seeking an Assistant Electrical Engineer to support the growth of its Automated Enforcement Unit. The role involves preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, conducting field visits, and coordinating with design consultants for traffic signal and street lighting projects. Responsibilities - Engage in research, investigations, studies or examinations related to the engineering functions, roles, and activities supporting the expansion and modernization of DOT’s Automated Enforcement program - Prepare designs and plans using AutoCAD, evaluate contract documents and specifications, working drawings and other technical specifications and estimates of quantities - Conduct field visits and surveys for potential AEU equipment deployment - Coordinate with design consultants and review submitted plans for the development/modification of new and/or existing signalized intersections and street lighting work - Advise and make recommendations to other city and state agencies regarding traffic signal and street lighting projects - Review and approve shop drawings and catalogue cuts for construction - Maintain records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys and inspections data Skills - A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work - A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college and a master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university - A master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university can only be used to substitute for one year of full-time satisfactory work experience in electrical engineering - A degree in any other engineering area, or in any engineering technology area, is not acceptable - Candidate should be detailed orientated, accurate, and have excellent verbal and strong writing communication skills - Candidate should have the ability to work effectively with others and collaborate in a team environment - Candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD and have strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Preference will be given to candidate who possess a driver's license valid in the state of New York with no restrictions Benefits - Public Service Loan Forgiveness Company Overview - City of New York, often called as New York City, is the most populous city in United States.
