About the Position: The National Center is seeking a highly-skilled individual to help develop and lead our Research and Evaluation efforts. This is a new position designed to increase our impact capacity and quality of service. This individual must work well under pressure and have demonstrated an exceptional ability to collaborate and communicate effectively. We’re looking for someone with excellent organizational skills, experience designing and conducting research and evaluation, and, most importantly, creativity. Key activities will include developing and implementing quarterly reporting and annual reporting systems, analyzing data, designing research questions and methods, developing research partnerships, driving a culture of inquiry, and presenting high-level findings tailored to multiple stakeholders.Key Responsibilities: • Develop a vision for the organization’s overall research plan and our ability to produce relevant, compelling, and best-in-class research on crime victim’s services and needs. • Synthesize, communicate and disseminate learnings and insights from research and evaluation internally to all departments and programs as part of a broad knowledge management strategy; and externally to high-level stakeholders and funders. • Perform evaluability assessments of new NCVC programs. • Develop and improve program evaluation systems for quality control, ensuring a victim-centered approach to program development and implementation. • Design research questions and data collection tools that can be easily utilized by NCVC program staff. • Research trends in evaluation in victim services, social and cultural changes, diversity and equity, criminal justice, and other areas relevant to the victims’ field. • Develop and maintain research partnerships with external evaluators and research institutions. • Collaborate with Program Leads to ensure that analytics and program data are collected accurately, routinely, and updated quarterly. • Work with Chief Program Officer on training new Program Leads in systems for evaluation and utilizing federal data collection systems for performance measurements. • Present at conferences and develop relationships with leaders in the field. • Perform other duties as assigned • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in research and evaluation, ideally with midsized to a large nonprofit focusing on victim services, criminal justice, justice-involved youth, education, or other related fields. • Advanced degree in a social science field, including education, public policy, public administration, public health, sociology, or a related discipline (or work experience equivalent will be considered) • Strong quantitative analysis skills and experience using quantitative analysis software are preferred; however, qualitative and/or mixed methods approaches will still be considered. • Demonstrated success in creating an evaluation and research plans, including developing indicators and metrics for success • Demonstrated success in designing data collection tools and conducting data collection activities (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups) • Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and the ability to independently produce presentations • Demonstrated experience interpreting results for various audiences • Demonstrated success with complex project management • Experience working in a non-profit would be beneficial • Demonstrated success working with underserved populations and strong cultural competence preferred We have a generous benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, vacation, sick and personal, 15 paid holidays per year, and contributions to individuals’ 401K plans.
